Go Beyond Dollars to Drive Employee Engagement
Engaged employees create enthused customers. This program covers the 15 types of “Green Goldfish” – the little extras for employees that drive engagement, empowerment, and efficiency.
The program explores signature ways “beyond dollars” to drive employee engagement such as onboarding, team building, flexibility, recognition, and empowerment. Store leaders will walk away with the knowledge of the key drivers of employee engagement and be able to introduce actionable ideas for their teams, little things that will increase engagement, improve retention and reinforce culture.
As a result of this workshop, participants will:
- Tools: Get equipped with the 3D process for employee experience design.
- Skills: Understand how to develop programs that address basics, belonging, and building.
- Empathy: Gain a deeper appreciation for the needs, desires, and expectations of employees.

Principles of Retail Management (WAFC Retail Management Certificate Curriculum)
An introduction to various facets of retail operations including: key elements of marketing and promotion, merchandising, pricing, layout, store organization, trace area analysis, site location, and customer service.
SoCal Presenter | John Ciraulo, Cerritos College

John serves as Vice President of Meat/Seafood & Quality Assurance for Stater Bros. Supermarkets. He is responsible for overseeing the marketing and overall operations of the company’s entire Meat/Seafood and Quality Control Divisions. John has been a member of the Stater Bros. “family” for thirty-seven years. He is also a part-time adjunct faculty member for Cerritos College and has been instructing all 8 courses of the Retail Management Certificate program for 12 years.
NorCal Presenter | Janel Carrigan, Fresno City College

Janel Carrigan is a full-time Marketing and Business Administration Instructor at Fresno City College where she has taught for the past 12 years. She also serves as Director of Marketing for Elite Global Journeys, a luxury travel agency based in Fresno, California. Janel focuses on digital marketing, with an emphasis on social media, and earned her earned MBA in Marketing from National University.
De-Escalation and Conflict Management
Given the goal of safely and efficiently operating in a public-facing business environment, participants will demonstrate the ability to perform tasks intended to resolve conflict and avoid escalation. The primary purpose of these skills is to peacefully resolve disputes, manage unwanted patron behavior and maintain safe and profitable operations.

Christopher P. Norris, CFI, is Director of WZ EMEA and International Training Division, as well as Webinar Training Director, is an instructor for Wicklander-Zulawski & Associates, Inc. (WZ). Chris has over 30 years of experience in the loss prevention and investigative fields, including living and working in the UK. He has trained thousands of human resource, audit, loss prevention, security and law enforcement professionals on the art of investigative interviewing and has conducted numerous investigations for both private companies and public agencies. Chris has provided training and presentations on the art of non-confrontational interviewing on 6 Continents in multiple languages.
