Scotts Valley Prohibited Disposable Food Service Ware

Expanded polystyrene ban, requirement that all takeout food packaging be recyclable or compostable.

Details of regulation: Food providers within the City of Scotts Valley may not provide food in any disposable food service ware that contains polystyrene foam. The City shall not provide disposable food service ware that contains polystyrene foam for use in any City of Scotts Valley facility. City of Scotts Valley contactors in the performance of city contracts and anyone renting city facilities may not provide prepared food in disposable food service ware that contains polystyrene foam. Exemptions include undue hardship, foods prepared or packaged outside the City of Scotts Valley, and polystyrene foam coolers and ice chests that are intended for reuse.
