Pismo Beach Expanded Polystyrene

Expanded polystyrene disposable food container ban, as well as a ban on the sale of any expanded polystyrene products. Effective January 15, 2016.

Details of regulation:  Food providers and vendors within the City of Pismo Beach may not provide prepared food in, or provide separately, any disposable food container made from expanded polystyrene. Disposable food containers made from expanded polystyrene shall not be used in any city facilities. City contractors in the performance of city contracts and events promoters may not provide prepared food in disposable food containers made from expanded polystyrene. Exemptions include undue hardship, foods prepared and packaged outside the City, raw meat and fish trays, and emergency situations.
