Scholarship Information
The growth of the Foundation's scholarship program has been nothing short of phenomenal since its inception. In 2009, the Foundation, with the help of its members, awarded 263 college scholarships totaling $315,500. This includes four types of scholarships: CGAEF funded, Legacy, Donor and Piggback Partnership Scholarships.

APPLYING FOR A SCHOLARSHIP
For the 2010-11 College Scholarship Program, the Foundation is proud to offer 272 scholarships totaling $299,000. CGAEF Scholarships are open to high school seniors, college freshmen, sophomores, and juniors who are the dependents of employees or are themselves employees of a CGA member company. Applications for the 2010-11 program are no longer being accepted. Scholarship recipients will be announced in June.
Applications for the 2011-2012 program will be available beginning January 1, 2011.

AVAILABLE SCHOLARSHIPS
Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit, evidence of outstanding character and leadership potential. Applicants must be planning to enroll as full-time college students in the Fall of 2010 and Spring of 2011 at an accredited, nonprofit college or university in the United States. All scholarships are one-time awards. The following scholarships are available for the 2010-11 program.
Don C. Beaver Memorial Scholarship - $2,000Established in recognition of the many contributions made to the retail grocery industry by Don C. Beaver, former CGA President from 1979 to 1996.
Hall of Achievement Scholarship - $2,000In recognition of Darioush Khaledi and Doug Detherage's induction into the CGAEF Hall of Achievement.
Lou Amen Legacy Scholarship - $1,000In recognition of Lou Amen, Super A Foods.
Bimbo Bakeries USA Scholarship - $1,000In recognition of Bimbo Bakeries USA.
Jack H. Brown Legacy Scholarship - $1,000In recognition of Jack Brown, Stater Bros. Markets.
Joey & Florence Franco Legacy Scholarship - $1,000In recognition of Joey & Florence Franco, PW Supermarkets.
Roger K. Hughes Legacy Scholarship - $1,000In recognition of Roger K. Hughes, HOWS Markets.
Don Kaplan Legacy Scholarship - $1,000In recognition of Don Kaplan, Bonfare Markets.

Illuminator Educational Foundation Scholarships - Ten $1,000
Donated by The Illuminators Educational Foundation.
Classic Wines of California Scholarships - Two $2,000 Donated by Classic Wines of California.
Stanislaus County Grocers Association Scholarship - Two $1,500 & Two $1,000 Donated by the Stanislaus County Grocers Association. These scholarships are available to members who work in Stanislaus County.
Larry Kranich Memorial Scholarship - $1,000 In recognition of Larry Kranich, former President of Quik Stop Markets. This scholarship is available to convenience store members.

All scholarships are one-time awards that are applied toward the recipient's educational expenses at any accredited, nonprofit college or university in the United States. There is a new competition for awards each year. A recipient may reapply in a subsequent year.
