Salmonella Enteritidis Outbreak in Shell Eggs Recall
Information
FDA is collaborating with Federal and state partners to investigate a nationwide increase of Salmonella Enteritidis (SE) infections. Partners include the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and state public health and agriculture officials. Joint FDA/CDC field investigation teams are working to identify potential sources of SE infection in shell eggs.

Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein Product Recall
Information
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is actively investigating
findings of Salmonella Tennessee in hydrolyzed vegetable protein (HVP)
manufactured by Basic Food Flavors, Inc., in Las Vegas, NV. HVP is a
flavor enhancer used in a wide variety of processed food products, such
as soups, sauces, chilis, stews, hot dogs, gravies, seasoned snack
foods, dips, and dressings. As of March 10, 2010 no illnesses
associated with this contamination have been reported to the FDA.

Recall Notification Program to assist CGA members successfully manage a
recall by providing accurate, timely information.
Peanut Butter Recall Information

Due to the increasing number of product recalls and publicity
surrounding them, the California Grocers Association has created a
Recall Notification Program to assist CGA members successfully manage a
recall by providing accurate, timely information.
CGA Recall Notification Program
CGA encourages members to register for its voluntary Recall
Notification Program. Participants will mainly receive Class I (life
threatening) notifications relevant to the California grocery market
via a Recall Alert email or fax. This service will be provided
Monday through Friday (weekend notifications available soon).
The process is simple. CGA regularly receives and evaluates recall
information from numerous federal, state and local government agencies,
as well as from the private sector. In addition staff monitors key
government websites on a regular basis.
Staff will evaluate recall notices and forward appropriate relevant
information to Association members via a Recall Alert email or
fax. CGA will also provide market withdrawal information.
Participating in the Recall Notification Program and receiving CGA’s
Recall Alert is voluntary and requires registration. To register please

form and fax it to CGA at (916)448-2793. This information is
confidential and will not be shared.
Large Scale Recalls
In the event of a large-scale recall, CGA will contact ALL Association
members via email or fax.
