Applying For A Scholarship

One of the CGA Educational Foundation's goals is to provide scholarships to employees and families of CGA member companies. For a list of available CGA Educational Foundation scholarships, click here.

ELIGIBILITY
California Grocers Association Educational Foundation Scholarships are open to high school seniors, college freshmen, sophomores, and juniors who are the dependents of employees or are themselves employees of a CGA member company. The employee must have been employed for at least one year as of January 1 of the year in which the scholarships are awarded and still be employed at the time awards are announced.

AWARDS
CGA Educational Foundation Scholarships will be awarded each year. The number of awards and amount of the awards will be determined by the funds available and the number of applicants. Awards are not renewable; however, students can re-apply each year as long as they continue to meet the eligibility requirements. The scholarships will be applied to educational expenses at accredited, non-profit two or four-year colleges/universities in the United States (hereafter referred to as either colleges or institutions). A student may transfer from one institution to another and retain the award.

RECIPIENT SELECTION
A Selection Committee comprised of educators who have no connection with the California Grocers Association Educational Foundation will evaluate the applications and select the recipients. The use of this independent committee is designed to ensure the impartiality and confidentiality of the selection process. In evaluating the applicants, the committee will consider the applicants' community involvement and academic achievements or records. The college GPA is also considered if the applicant is already enrolled in an institution.
