WAFC Retail Management Certificate Program

The CGA Educational Foundation is proud to publicize the WAFC Retail Management Certificate Program, an important education program that is available to grocery industry employees throughout California and Nevada.

The WAFC Retail Management Certificate Program is offered at over half of the community colleges in California. This 10-course community college-level program is fully endorsed by the Western Association of Food Chains (WAFC), who helped design the curriculum to benefit employees in the grocery industry. The courses are available to the general public, and anyone who is interested in the retail industry can benefit from the curriculum.

The CGA strongly supports the WAFC Retail Management Certificate program and has made financial assistance available to CGA member employees through the Career Development Program. Specifically, CGA member employees can apply for expanded reimbursement to include tuition and books for courses in the WAFC Retail Management Certificate Program. (Please note: Class limit remains at $100/class, maximum annual allotment $600/individual.)

Participating community colleges offer classes in the WAFC Retail Management Certificate program each semester. The coursework encompasses several business essentials, including communication and other “soft skills” of management required for career success in the retail food industry.

Course titles/numbers vary slightly at each participating campus, but the content for “like” courses must be substantially similar for WAFC endorsement and consistency.
