Haiti Relief Effort - As of January 15, 2010

PRODUCT/MONETARY DONATION INFORMATION
  • Interested donors can visit www.interaction.org to obtain a list of credible responding agencies for international emergencies and www.give.org to get valuable information on making informed decisions when supporting charities. In addition, donors can visit www.globalgiving.org.

  • FEMA and the State of California are requesting that businesses and private organizations post offers of assistance or donations to the database on www.cidi.org which is the Center for International Disaster Information. See further CIDI information under resources.

  • The State of California has offered to CGA members a private email address for donations. FEMA is staffing this email address and working directly with the US State Department to match needs with offers of assistance. Because the information is not available to the public, please contact Jill Rulon for specific information.

  • Another website for making monetary or posting notice of available commodity donations is www.aidmatrix.org. Potential contributors are encouraged to pre-register as a willing donor. Aidmatrix is the national donation portal used by FEMA as well as the state of California and is becoming the standard for donations management across the country. Although resource requests have been delayed due to communications challenges in Haiti, activity is expected soon. By pre-registering as a willing donor, you will automatically be contacted if and when need arises. Please contact Dave Heylen if you have any questions or would like further information.

  • Visit www.usaid.gov and www.whitehouse.gov for information regarding help for Haiti.

Resources

  • If your company has any type of operations in Haiti and assistance is needed, the State of California has offered their help to CGA members as part of our public private partnership. They are able to assist with their own direct contacts as well as the Federal government agencies.

  • The Center for International Disaster Information provides comprehensive information on global disasters including the status of Haiti, visit www.cidi.org. Please note the website is extremely busy and may be slow in responding at this time.

  • The U.S. Chamber of Commerce plans to hold regular conference calls to provide updates to interested donor companies, corporate foundations, humanitarian organizations and media. Further information is available upon request.

CGA Requesting Haiti Disaster Relief Information

If your company is providing relief to the victims of Tuesday's 7.0 earthquake that devastated Haiti, CGA is requesting you forward that information to Association headquarters. CGA is aggregating total donations made by CGA members in the event of media inquiries regarding our industry's efforts to assist in this disaster.

In addition, if your company is providing opportunities for both customers and employees to contribute, please forward that information to CGA as well. Several companies have already provided CGA with press releases regarding their relief efforts.

Please forward press releases, donation totals, and other relief effort information to Dave Heylen, CGA, or call (916) 448-3545.

CGA Coordinating with State and Federal Emergency Agencies

CGA is working with the California Emergency Management Agency (Cal EMA) and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region IX to ensure that all donation requests are properly coordinated.

Please contact Jill Rulon, or call (916) 448-3545, if you have any questions or would like further information.
